Volunteers

This exhibition is a huge undertaking and many volunteers are needed to ensure its success.

  • Social Media Manager - Coordinate with the gallery owner and NODG representatives to promote the open call, physical exhibition, and Web Gallery via various social media channels.
  • Press Manager - Sarah Burnette is the Press Manager for this exhibition.  However, volunteers are still encouraged to assist in this area on a regional and as-needed basis.  Send press releases to local media, as well as applicable national/international media including newspapers, tv & radio stations, art reviewers, bloggers, etc.
  • Art Handlers - Packing/unpacking of art, ensuring return labels are provided, scanning the art into the platform as received, wiping off dust, etc.
  • Gallery Sitter -  Sign up for a shift to represent the entire gallery!  This is a huge responsibility with big rewards - the gallery sitter will receive a 10% commission for any work they sell during their shift AND can paint their own new work when visitors are not present.
  • Poster Hangers - Wander around New Orleans stapling flyers to phone poles, taping up in windows of cafes, etc.  This is so much fun!
  • Writer - Contribute an essay or article about the New Orleans Drawing Group, Arabi Visual Arts, any of the exhibition artists, or any piece of art.  These will be posted on the Arabi Visual Arts website as blog posts as well as being submitted to the Press & Social Media Managers for distribution.
  • Prize/Sponsor Recruiting- Contact businesses to request donations of money and/or merchandise/services to be used as artist awards and opening night door-prizes.  All artists are encouraged to request prizes from their associates.  Prizes and sponsors are being coordinated by Darlene Bigus-Doheny and Margaret Herrick.
