Subject matter is everywhere when I am open and alert to what is around me.   I want to have an attitude of creativity that finds beauty in the everyday.   Many times I pass a person or place and miss the opportunity to find what is truly exquisite and unique.   Too often I am distracted by lesser things.   I look for the spirit of the subject above describing what I see with my eyes.   This is not always successful, but when it does succeed, I know it.  I find that the attitude I have when I paint translates itself onto the painting surface.   It is remarkable.
